Soul Compass for June 13 – 19

Happy Sunday evening, my loves! It’s time for this coming week’s Soul Compass reading. But first, I just wanted to share what I’ve been dealing with these last few days and why I’ve been a little absent since Friday.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I had a bit of a rocky weekend with my kitty assistant, Loki. Loki apparently threw a clot on Friday night, and it turns out that he has congestive heart failure. He’s not “too far gone”, so to speak, and his condition can be helped with meds. Since all his other tests and blood work had come back with really good results, I made the decision to bring him home with the medications and see how he does.

2016-04-15 17.50.42-2He has a re-check coming on the 20th, and we’ll get a sense then of how his progress is. If things are looking good, then we fight on for a bit longer. But if the meds are harming anything else like his kidneys or liver, then it may just be his time. He’s 15 now, and I love him to bits, but I’m not going to keep him alive with meds for my selfish reasons. That’s just not fair.

That said, he’s doing well since we brought him home. It took much of the first night for him to come out of all the sedation he had to have {he’s a fighter at the vet, so they always need to sedate him to examine or test him}. But once he did he’s been purring, eating, playing, following us if we go in the kitchen, and randomly high-fiving inanimate objects {one of his weird things he does for no real reason}. If you have a furbaby, give them a squeeze!

OK, on with this week’s reading!

This week I’m using one of my favorite oracle decks of late – Wisdom of the Oracle by Collette Baron-Reid. I purchased this deck a few months ago and used it quite a bit when I first got it. Since then it’s been sitting in my basket of favorites next to my deck, but I haven’t brought it out to play in a while. Today felt like a good day to use it…I could do with its cheery images.

Wisdom of the Oracle

Mind – Loyal Heart

Body – Yin

Spirit – A Leg Up

This week the Mind card comes in as Loyal Heart. This week it’s time to take a look at the most important relationships in our lives and ask ourselves “How is the loyalty here?” It may not be that there is anything wrong! Things may be perfectly fine. But are they in balance?

The keys to true love and friendship come as trust and loyalty, and they always work best when they are balanced. Are you as loyal back to those you love as they are too? Or are you the one that tends to be overly loyal while others may not be as great at returning that energy. It’s time to look for the imbalances here and begin to right them in whatever way that needs to be done.

The Body card, the card of action, comes in as the energy of Yin this week. Love and compassion are the names of the game when it comes to working on this balance. Yin in the feminine side of Yin and Yang, it’s the receptive and receiving side rather than the active and masculine Yang. This may not be the week for taking action on these relationship imbalances but a time for receiving.

This card is showing up here really makes me feel that the bigger issue for many may be in receiving loyalty and being on that receptive end in a relationship. Are you resisting help, love, and support from others right now in favor of your Ego-based need or desire to do things on your own?

The Spirit card helps make it clear why we’re going to be seeing this around us this week. The lesson card of the week, A Leg Up, reminds us of why these relationships are so important. They help us get that leg up when we need it. We’re offered this love and support for a reason, and it’s not just out of obligation.

This week Spirit reminds us that we have these special, loyal, loving people put in our path for a reason. They are here to help carry us, support us, and give us a little lift when we need it. We might feel like we should be able to do it all on our own, but we can’t…and we shouldn’t.

To Sum It Up…

This week take a moment to check and see where the loyalties lie in your closest and most dear relationships. Are you giving and showing your loyalty? Are you receiving equal measures of loyalty back? If things are out of balance in any of these relationships, it’s time to start reflecting on how these changes that need to be made can be done with love and compassion. But it’s not a week it act. It’s more a time for us to make sure we’re open and receptive to what others have to give us. Loyalty and love are two-way streets. You can give all you have but if you aren’t willing to receive how much is what you’re giving actually worth?

Hi Jess, I hope your cat and the rest of the family will have a peaceful extra few months together. I had to ask….does your tweet have a typo? Or am I really just not seeing it?

    Love to you and yours.
