When I was a kid I used to watch Secret City with Mark Kistler on PBS. It was one of my favorite shows as a kid. That time after school where I would bring out my big Secret City drawing pad (because yes, I had the official gear) and learn to drawn 3D boxes was the best. I had this book…I might still have it in a box somewhere…but I have another one that he published based on the show from a while back. And, yes, I still use it!
In 2012 I discovered the world of Zentangle while taking a women’s creative business course. One of the women in the group was an art therapist and she was specifically working with the meditation process of Zentangle to help her clients with anxiety. I started to draw and sketch, first with the Zentangle method, and then expanding out into other doodle styles. Now, getting the chance to draw and doodle, is something that is a necessity in my life. I spend a lot of time on Pinterest looking for inspiration and collecting doodle instructions to try out.
Here are some of my drawings. These are just a few that I was able to find quickly. Over time I’ll add more as I find them.
