Re-Learning To Blog {and a June Lust List}

blogginganew

Hey, babes! It’s a dreary Saturday here in my part of San Diego {thank you June Gloom} and I am feeling…restless. I haven’t blogged as much as I wanted to this week because a post I wanted to write for today just didn’t come together. It was better and funnier in my head than it was looking on {digital} paper, so I set it aside and started digging in my head for something else.

As you probably know by now I’ve been starting to work on some shifts around my blog and biz. I want things to be more lifestyle focused. Life as a whole – spirit + other stuff. And while I know in my head how I’d want that to look it’s the getting started part that’s tough.

My plans for this week have been to sit and either catch up on reading the Suicide Squad New 52 books I have laying around {so excited for the movie!} or playing Call of Duty. Essentially a weekend of doing fun stuff I’ve been putting off in favor of work. So I made me a massive mug of coffee and steamed milk and was heading for the couch when I started to feel like I needed to go to my desk.

And here we are.

So I grabbed my Miracles Now deck by Gabby Bernstein and pulled a card. This is what I pulled:

Oooookay…what light am I working on here?

That was the question that took me a minute to think about. What is it that I want to shed light on? Then the whole pivot I’ve been lotting and working on in my head, and a little in reality, kind of made sense. I want to bring light to the fact that you can openly have interests beyond the spiritual and share them without shame and still be spiritual or magical or whatever the case may be.

Great! So where to start…

That’s where this book that I bought recently came into play. 365 Blog Topic Ideas: For The Lifestyle Blogging Who Has Nothing To Write About by Dana Fox. HA! Yeah that’s me! I have no clue what to write about. This book is great though. No frills. Just literally a book filled with a blog prompt on each page making it easy to just randomly open to something to write about.

When I read some of my favorite lifestyle blogs like Classy Girls Wear Pearls, The College Prepster and Cupcakes and Cashmere I have to admit I feel a little intimidated by the whole thing.

This is one of the reasons that I was glad Bright-Eyed and Blog-Hearted was starting up again when it was. I feel like I’m relearning how to blog. When I look back at some of my blog posts from 3 or 4 years ago and they read with this tone that makes it sound like I talking to a lecture of hall of students it makes me cringe. CRINGE I tell you!

It’s that pretentious Pagan blogger voice that made me stop reading other people’s Pagan blogs that I didn’t realize I was unwittingly doing too. Just…no! Never again.

But this new lifestyle stuff? I haven’t got a clue where to start.

You’re never going to see me doing spontaneous city sidewalk photo shoots wearing the latest trend jewelry or the spring line from Kate Spade. You’re not likely to see me to sharing pictures of my apartment with tales of my decorating prowess because I am married to a man that hates decorating. If he had it his way we’d have bare walls and nothing but the most essential furniture {a couch, a TV, a bed, and two desks, one for each of our computers and that’s it}.

“OK, let’s open the book at random and see,” I said.

The topic: A current lust list. That’s easy!

So here is a list of 5 things that I’m really lusting after this month. Will I acquire them? I don’t know…but this is what I’m totally after right now.

Yes, this is my version of Lust List…lol.  So here we go!

1. Saint Laurent Sac Du Jour – I’ve had this bag on my radar for a while and I’ve decided to go for this in place of the black 35cm Birkin that I was thinking about getting as my next Birkin purchase. Obviously much more credit card friendly but also pretty similar in style. While it lacks the “flash” of a Birkin it’s a gorgeous, sleek and sturdy bag. I was at Nordstroms recently picking up a new Kate Spade bag and they had one in the store because it had been returned {the sales associate said normally they don’t carry them at that location}. So I’m planning on getting the small one in black soon.

2. Magical Wooden Display Pyramid – I’ve been thinking it’s time to start hanging shelves on the wall in my office and bedroom to get some stuff off the tops of things. I’ve been in love with these sexy pyramid shelves on Etsy lately. This one I’m particular in love with because of the beach worn blue wood look.

3. Destressifying by davidji – OK, so this is a little bit of a cheat because the book actually doesn’t come out until August, but I’m wishing it would come out now! I love davidji. He’s one of my fave mindfulness teachers because, like the subtitle of this book says, he’s all about real-world stuff, which you know I’m all about to. Make it real, make it relatable and make it actionable. That’s what I’m about and that’s what davidji focuses on too. I am very much looking forward to this book!

4. Balanced Guru Intuition Mist – In this month’s Yogi Surprise Box I was excited to find one of the Balanced Guru’s Energy Mists. This one was a special one branded to support the Yoga Gangsters organization {which is awesome BTW}. The one I’ve been working with is called Truthful and is used for energizing the throat chakra for honesty & creativity {used it right before writing this post in fact}. You spray it just in front of your face and inhale {it is NOT a mount spray like the card that came in the Yogi Surprise Box suggested}. I definitely could get some use out of the Intuition Mist!

5. Tom Servo Quote Poster – I know, this seems silly right? But I’m a huge MST3K fan and current Rifftrax fan. Tom Servo was my favorite character on MST3K and Kevin Murphy, who voiced him, is one of my fave riffers. My secret wish is to become funny enough to do what they do. Who doesn’t want to hang out and make fun of shitty movies for other people’s amusement? OK, lots of people I’m sure. All the more reason for me to step up to the plate and do it!

That book sounds like a good thing to have when you run out of ideas 🙂 You could make #2 on your list yourself, and then you won’t have to wait to be able to get one, and you’ll feel great for doing it 🙂

I’m so un-gifted with that kind of crafting…lol. The real reason I haven’t bought one yet is simply not knowing where I would put it. I know I want one and any time I see someone with one in their IG posts I’m like “OHHHHH those are so pretty and cool.” If I could just find the place to put it I’d get it. 🙂

I get the “don’t know where to put it” 🙂 Skills can be learned, but finding a place for stuff can be hard. Maybe you could use it in the garden/yard?

Client Love

When I started coaching with Jess I thought I was coming to her for help with a breakup and an unexpected and sudden international move. It turned out that wasn't the real issue at all! Jess asked questions I never would have thought to ask myself and gave me a whole new perspective on what was going on in my life. She made me feel like what I want matters. By the time we were done I felt like I could take on the world!

OMG I'm blown away by the accuracy of the reading. Jess has a special gift. What she revealed to me, opened me up to a place I knew I should be at but was holding myself back from.

I was so overwhelmed trying to get back into my witchcraft practice, but Jess helped me create an actual plan and a schedule for doing the work. The results in just two months has been far beyond my expectations. I'm in touch with my power like never before!

Jess is a great teacher, as well as an insightful reading and a wonderful healer. Her lessons are informative and easy to understand. Her cards speak to her in a way that I hope mine will to me one day. I have also had a Chakra session and a Reiki session with her and afterward I felt at peace, balanced, and whole again (I was quite sick at the time). I trust very few people, and I follow my path alone, but I trust Jess. She’s a beautiful spirit.
