It’s been a while, friends! Love and work and the magical side of being really consumed me over the last month or so and my blog just didn’t get to see any love. I thought that this new moon, this beautiful new moon in Scorpio on 11/11 would be the perfect time to officially announce the change to my website {it’s had a little makeover} and revive my blogging.
With that, let’s talk a little about this new moon!
At 12:47PM Eastern/9:47am Pacific the moon moved into this interesting position. It’s a new moon which means it’s a time for new beginnings. It’s time to look at things like long term goals and see what new things we need to start to get closer to those goals. It’s also a great time to just look at what it is what we’d like to do or what we’d like to get started with and make steps to do it.
The new moon is in the sign of Scorpio, one of the darkest and most magical of the signs. The moon in Scorpio is a time to really tap into your intuition and your magic. If you’re ready to get started with a big new beginning and don’t know where to start, this is a great time to break out the tarot cards and gaze into your crystal ball for guidance on where to get started.
And today happens to be 11/11, a number that adds to this idea of working with intuition. The number 11 taps the energies of divinity, intuitive guidance, faith and charisma. But it can also bring out some negative characteristics like lack of focus, shyness, and feeling stressed.
All of these things together mean that today’s new moon is a time to make a clear and confident decision about just one thing that you really want to dive into with conviction and start anew. But do it with a little divine inspiration and intuitive direction. Bring out your magic to get your new beginnings cemented in the Universe.
Here is a divination spread for today’s new moon to help you get some insight into how you can make the most of it as you get your new beginnings under way.
Tarot or Oracle Spread for Divine Inspiration
You’ll want to grab a deck of tarot or oracle cards. I also like to put a quartz crystal generator crystal in the center of the layout when I do it to help amplify and focus the energy.
Lay your cards out like this:
Here are the positions:
- What area of my life does the Divine want me to focus on right now? {if using tarot, if you get a minor arcana card let the suit guide you in finding your focus}
- What part of my Shadow do I need to acknowledge right now?
- How can I illuminate my Shadow? How can my Shadow illuminate me?
- What inspired action should I take over the next two weeks?
- The best I can expect from this new moon phase.
A Quick Shadow Illumination Spell
Once you’ve done your reading and you discover your shadow, there’s a simply ritual you can to do illuminate and connect with your Shadow aspect.
You’ll need:
- a white candle
- candle holder
- a tarot card representing your Shadow or a slip of paper with your Shadow aspect written on it
- coriander {ground or seed}
- a plate or dish to work on
- a lighter
Hold your candle between your hands and visualize it being filled with a bright white light. This light helps to clear out any negative energy attached to the candle while filling it with the light we want to work with for illumination.
Place the candle in your holder and put it in the center of your dish.
Take your tarot card or slip of paper and place it in front of the candle so when you light the candle it will cast a glow on the paper.
Sprinkle coriander in a circle around the card and candle on your plate. Coriander is an herb connected to the sign of Scorpio. It evokes love, passion, psychic insight, divinity, secrets, and protection. It’s great for psychic work, protection, and connecting to the Shadow.
Light the candle and go into a meditative state. Watch the candle flame with a soft gaze {your eyes will likely start to slip out of focus and you may even want to close your eyes…follow your intuition}.
When you feel focused and centered lightly, gently chant the following:
Surrounded by light,
My Shadow ignites.
New beginnings are here,
As I release my fears.
Let your candle burn down naturally. When it’s done you can gather up your wax remains, the card or paper, and the coriander and wrap it in a white cloth and save as a charm for your work or you can bury it on your property.
Once your magic is done…
Remember that spells and rituals are just the first step to opening the way and connecting you with the things you desire from the Universe. Now it’s time for you to take action. The door is open but you still have to walk toward it and through it.
It’s time to start your new beginning with conviction!
