Happy 2020 Witchy Fam!
Are you living your life according to your 2020 tarot card? No? OH…you don’t know what that is or what your card is! I gotcha covered!
Every year, through the (not so) mystical power of numerology, we can discover what our tarot card for the year is. This card represents themes and energies for your life that year. These can be energies you might want to watch out for or work with, depending on what’s happening in your life at any given time.
This card and its overall energy for your year can be used as a touchstone. Any time you start to feel like your life is spiraling out of control during the year, go back to your card. Reflect on its many levels of meaning. How can it help you in making decisions, making plans, and preparing for changes and challenges?
Before we get into what to do with your card, let’s figure out what your card is!
The Calculation
It’s easy peasy! You’ll add together your Birth Month, Birth Day, and the current year 2020. So it might look something like this:
Your birthday is May 15th and it’s 2020 : 5 + 15 + 2020 = 2040
Then you’ll take that large number and break it down so that you end up with a final number between 1 – 22.
For instance: 2 + 0 + 4 + 0 = 6
Then you take that final number and find the corresponding Major Arcana card. 6 is The Lovers, so your theme for the year would be represented by The Lovers Card.
What’s with 22? The majors only go to 21?
Aye, however, The Fool is traditionally numbered as 0. So in our tarot numerology work, the number 22 represents The Fool.
Speaking of numerology, does that play a factor in a more traditional sense?
It can! If you’re also into numerology on its own, you can certainly weave into your tarot card message some of the meanings to your number as well. I use traditional numerology a lot in my tarot work, so I’m inclined to look at the meaning of the number as well.
In traditional numerology, you want to break things down to a single number between 1 – 9 with a few exceptions like 11, 22, etc. as Master Numbers. Now, that, of course, means you might have a different numerology number from your tarot card number. I’ll use me as an example.
My birthday is on April 5th. So my equation is:
4 + 5 + 2020 = 2029
2 + 0 + 2 + 9 = 13
Tarot Card: 13 – Death
Traditional Numerology: 1 + 3 = 4
Death is going to represent a time of change, letting go, new beginnings, and rebirth. The number 4 adds a layer of detail as a number that references balance, foundations, structure, and finding the middle road. So while my year will be full of changes and setting a new course, the number 4 is a reminder that the process needs to be balanced. Focusing the year on creating solid foundations and plans to build big dreams on can be the key to future success.
You can also look at the Major Arcana card associated with your traditional numerology number too. This card can represent another layer to your year, kind of like how we have our Sun and Moon signs in astrology. The primary card is your outer/conscious theme for the year, and the secondary one is your inner/subconscious theme. For me, it would be The Emperor, which also happens to be the overall card for the year 2020 for everyone.
We can add even MORE to it by looking at all the cards in the Minor Arcana suits related to your traditional numerology for the nitty-gritty details in specific areas of your life. For instance, I would look at the 4 of Cups for relationships and spirituality, 4 of Swords for communication and challenges, 4 of Wands for creative and vitality, and 4 of Earth for money and health.
In the end, you can have a whole, big, beautiful profile for your year ahead!
And I have a workbook for that!
