Welcome to the first post in this awesome new series of fashion and tarot that I’m doing! I’m excited to share some of these concepts with you all because it’s going to be really eye-opening I think. 0 – The Fool

The first card in the major arcana is The Fool, and this is where we’re starting out journey.

The archetype of The Fool is one we can all relate to, and one that we encounter over and over again in our lives, both within ourselves as well as with people around us.

The Fool represents the adventurer. They are a joyful, blissful wanderer through life who sometimes has their head in the clouds and tends to approach the world with a very curious, optimistic sense of child-like wonder.

The Fool is the kind of person who packs one bag to go on a month long backpacking trip through Europe with almost no planned stops or places lined up ahead of time to stay because they just know in their hearts that the Universe is going to lead them where they need to be and that they will land softly on their feet.

The Fool travels light, only taking with them the things, and even the people, that they know are going to be able to serve them best. They aren’t into acquiring things, they don’t need to have tons or friends to feel content. The Fool, despite their aloof nature, actually has a great handle on themselves and really knows who they are, what they are good at and what they are capable of.

Despite all this stuff, they are still a bit naive to the ways of the world. They may know themselves but they aren’t as aware of others. They can sometimes do or say things that they think is fine but that is offensive to others, there is never any malice in the heart of the Fool. It isn’t because they are insensitive, they just aren’t tuned into the people around them that well.

The Fool is ruled by the planet Uranus and the element of Air. Uranus is all about big changes, embracing individuality, taking a non-traditional path and being inventive. Air is the element of thoughts, ideas, intellectual creation and communication. The Fool is the epitome of free expression and loves to try different boho inspired looks.

When it comes to embodying these energies through fashion and appearance, if we want to dress like the Fool to align with the positive energies of the Fool, here’s what we might want to try.

 

Colors, Patterns and Fabrics:
Bright yellow, chili pepper red, neon pink, colors of the nebulas like warm oranges and deep royal blues. The Fool is also a fan of white that is then accentuated with pops of color.

The Fool like their clothes to be free fitting, nothing tight or confining. They want to be able to move without feeling restricted. The Fool also likes to be able to feel the sun and breeze on their skin, so low cut and plunging necklines and airy skirts that allow the wind to wrap her legs makes her happy. The Fool doesn’t wear these things to appear “sexy” but just free with an innocence.

Patterns for The Fool include floral, anything with sparkle or bokeh, and whimsical patterns that might be unexpected like clouds, stars and the cosmos.

 

Accessories:

The Fool is all about traveling light, so they aren’t going to have too many accessories, and what they do have will be chosen to make an impact. One bold necklace with only a pair of stud earrings if they wear any at all. Shoes are chosen more for comfort than fashion because The Fool needs to be able to wander easily. No heels, wedges here. Instead The Fool chooses comfy flats and padded sandals. The Fool always carries a bag and it’s usually a good size to carry the things she needs for her spur of the moment travels. Inside you’ll probably find a travel toothbrush and a bottle of aspirin, just in case. She likes hobo and crossbody bags so her hands are free to do whatever her spirit calls her to do while she’s grabbing life and livin’ it up.

The Fool always has a fresh, slightly dewy and sun-kissed face. She doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and instead focuses on having great natural looking skin with a glow.
