Ghost Adventures aka Extreme Ghost Hunting aka Are You F’ing Serious?!

Yeah, I know… “Rowan, why do you keep taking so badly about these guys?” A)…it’s late and it just seems like a good idea for the moment since technically it’s Friday which means it’s going to be time for the show and B)…I’m sorry, I just don’t LIKE them!! I can’t get over how bad that show is!!!

Ghost Adventures
aka
Extreme Ghost Hunting
aka
Are You F’ing SERIOUS!?!

That’s about the progression that I go through with the show in the first few minutes during the episode preview and the opening credits. Any show that opens with the words “Raw…Extreme…These are our Ghost Adventures” is opening itself to public mockery.

And then you see them…and…well…yeah…

So anyway, I’m not really “picking” on them, I just think they’re silly. And I was starting to think after the last few series of Most Haunted that there wasn’t going to be much to top it but The Travel Channel again managed to find something crazy to fill their schedule. Imagine, who thought that a pair of plumbers from Rhode Island were going to be the most sane television paranormal investigators we’d see! And if it wasn’t for my Dad I never would have given TAPS a look (after Mad Mad House I sort of wrote off “reality television” on Sci-Fi, or SyFy…whatever they’re calling themselves now).

I’m just not a fan, and we’ll leave it at that and move on to talking about why I still watch this show ever week. It cracks me up! Here, this is a clip from last week and the episode from the Ancient Ram Inn. This is a good “catch all” of what to expect in an hour of this show…

Yeah.

So I started to write a drinking game to go along with the show. I figured this would make this show more enjoyable and, since this is on not once but TWICE (back to back, same episodes) before Most Haunted comes on this would also make Most Haunted more fun (and would help me get over the fact that Brian Shepard creeps me out).

So here you go…
Rowan’s Ghost Adventures Drinking Game!

What You’ll Need…
1. A mixed drink of some kind (Vodka and Red Bull seems most fitting…it’s EXTREME)

2. A bottle of one of the alcohols from your mixed drink (we’ll go with vodka here, but have the good stuff…for the love of the Gods no Popov! If you need to be spend thrifty at least get Svedka. If you’re looking to mildly enjoy your vodka get some Ketel One or Grey Goose.)

3. A shot glass (for the vodka in our case)

How To Play…
You’re going to take a sip from your mixed drink when any of the following happens…

1. Someone duct tapes an “X” on the ground for later.
2. Any time someone says “dude”, “man” or “bro”.
3. Any time someone gets bleeped.
4. Any time someone screams, yells or otherwise freaks out.
5. Any time someone taunts a spirit to get a reaction from them to produce activity.

You’re going to do a shot of your chosen alcohol any time one of the following things happens…

1. When the guys go into “lock-down”.
2. Any time someone is supposedly chased out of a room by a ghost or runs out because they got scared.
3. Any time someone gets freaked out by something mundane in a room like a picture on the wall, a piece of furniture, etc.
4. Any time Aaron gets left alone or is sent on his own to investigate an area.
5. Do another shot if Aaron whines like a little girl about it as if he doesn’t know this is coming at some point.

I was trying to think if there was more but, to be honest, these are quite enough and should keep you well and pissed through most of the show. If anyone would like to make some suggestions on some more possible adds to the game, please, let me know! 🙂

Happy Drunken Extreme Ghost Adventures!

Ugh….yeah, the ONLY reason I was that show is because of the frakkin’ hot host! Much like Jamie Durie on “The Victory Garden”, I’m waiting for him to rip his shirt off, too! *G*

For someone who claims to being a wiccan you have a rather closed mind. You write off a lot as to them just being silly gits that are all dancing monkeys for the media. Now, TAPS I would have to agree are that way, so are the self-justified people of Paranormal State. But lay off of Ghost Adventures. They really are the only ones that don't flip out and constantly whisper throughout their investigation and blow things completely out of proportion. They dramatize but that's within human nature. Suck it up.

Besides, if you're a wiccan where's your knowledge of the paranormal?

They certainly have their own unique way of going about their investigations, and as I say, to each their own, for sure. I don't agree with how they work and I don't support the show but that's just my personal opinion. I just find them to be a bit over the top in their own way and just putting on a show. Certainly different from Most Haunted and the other shows which all have their own ways of being a bit overblown as well, but I just find the whole "dude"/"bro" aspect of the show extremely annoying making it not only hard to watch but hard to take seriously.

As for being Wiccan, I'm not. I'm a Pagan and a Witch who has studied Wicca and been part of several Wiccan traditions, but I don't consider myself specifically Wiccan. Also, I don't feel that being Wiccan means that anyone is going to have specific knowledge or understanding of the paranormal since they don't go hand-in-hand. Wicca is a religion that doesn't really specifically address the paranormal except where people bring them into concert with one another. I do happen to be a certified paranormal investigator (certified through ParaNexus) and I have been working with the paranormal and doing investigations for the last 10 years. I don't take any of these shows seriously since their main purpose is to entertain. But even then, a few of them fall short for me (and many others that have involvement in the field of the paranormal).

I find it to be very funny how Zak and crew tend to lump the religions/paths of Wicca and Paganism in with Satanism. I actually know someone who was a part of the Church of Satan, and his beliefs are no where near mine. To set the records straight in some relatively public domain, Satan is the counter-god or opposite of the Christian God. Pagans/Wiccans don't believe in the existance of Satan seeing as how our belief system was around well before the existance of Christianity. In addition, we celebrate the changing of the seasons and our connections with nature and the universe around us. That's all for now, but you now have a basic idea of our beliefs.

Thank you for your thoughts, Josh. Sadly, as is the case with many people outside of the Craft, their understanding of our beliefs and how they fit or don’t fit with other religious and spiritual systems is still sorely lacking. Shows like this and many of the others, even the ones that I sometimes enjoy like “Paranormal State” use these misconceptions as ways to draw attention and ratings. I would love to see a Pagan or Wiccan family profiled on one of those shows as having activity that they need help with because it would be interesting to see how their beliefs are approached, especially in the cleansing process of the home since it’s a common practice with (in my opinion) good paranormal teams to use cleansing and blessing methods that are within the belief system of the living residents. I’d like to see how some of these shows would work with those sorts of families.

I was so overwhelmed trying to get back into my witchcraft practice, but Jess helped me create an actual plan and a schedule for doing the work. The results in just two months has been far beyond my expectations. I'm in touch with my power like never before!

Jess is a great teacher, as well as an insightful reading and a wonderful healer. Her lessons are informative and easy to understand. Her cards speak to her in a way that I hope mine will to me one day. I have also had a Chakra session and a Reiki session with her and afterward I felt at peace, balanced, and whole again (I was quite sick at the time). I trust very few people, and I follow my path alone, but I trust Jess. She’s a beautiful spirit.

When I started coaching with Jess I thought I was coming to her for help with a breakup and an unexpected and sudden international move. It turned out that wasn't the real issue at all! Jess asked questions I never would have thought to ask myself and gave me a whole new perspective on what was going on in my life. She made me feel like what I want matters. By the time we were done I felt like I could take on the world!

OMG I'm blown away by the accuracy of the reading. Jess has a special gift. What she revealed to me, opened me up to a place I knew I should be at but was holding myself back from.
