Litha is just a few days away, which seems almost crazy. That means the year is already half over! So let’s talk a little magick for the rest of the year.

Litha, aka Summer Solstice or Midsummer, among other names, marks the height of the sun’s power and the longest day (and shortest night) of the year. But with that comes the slow decline that will take us to Yule, the Winter Solstice, in December. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that with all the long and hot days still ahead, we’re descending in power from Litha onward. This year Litha falls on this Saturday, June 20th, which will also be a New Moon in Cancer as well as a solar eclipse (and don’t forget Mercury just went Retrograde too!).

Litha is a great time for magick. It’s an ideal time to look at what you most need for the rest of the year and use this elevated power to attract it to you. Some of the things that are particularly favored this time of year include:

Simple spells and rituals for these intentions can be great ways to harness this energy and bring some of it into your life and empower the months ahead with strength from the Sun.

This spell is designed to help you draw this powerful energy of strength and vitality to a specific area of a situation in your life that you want to boost through the rest of the year. It’s a simple one, but before you do it, here are a few things you might want to do to set yourself up for success.

 

Bid Farewell and Thanks to the Waxing Half of the Year

Give thanks to the Gods, spirits, earth, Universe, and anyone else that you work with or honor for the growth that you’ve had so far. This has been a challenging year for all of us so far, but if you haven’t been able to mine some nuggets of growth, you may need to take some time to evaluate your journey.

 

Cleansing Yourself and Your Space

Have a ritual bath or shower and use herbs or incense to cleanse your space with smoke (be sure to open the windows so the smoke can carry away what needs to be released). Let go of any frustrations from the first half of the year and allow yourself and your space to be free of negative energy that might get in the way of your future success.

 

 

Litha Charm For Success

Intention: To attract energies of success, power, and abundance to a situation

Timing: On or right before Litha/Summer Solstice

Items:

•  Square of red cloth
•  Gold or Yellow ribbon
•  Dried Calendula flowers
•  Cinnamon chips (or broken up cinnamon stick)
•  Dragon’s Blood
•  Crown of Success oil
•  Citrine Stone
•  Square of paper
•  Pen (red or black)
•  1 Red Candle
•  1 White Candle
•  1 Gold Candle

 

Be sure to cleanse and bless your tools before starting. Cast a circle or set sacred space in whatever way you prefer. Take a few moments to get into the right mindset for your work. Take a little time to meditate on your desires. What do you need to focus on the most in the months ahead? What is the one goal you want to see come to fruition before the end of the year?

Begin by writing out your intention on your paper. Write this in whatever way feels right for you. It can be as an affirmation, a sigil, a bindrune, symbols or a picture, or a note to your Higher Self about what will manifest. However, you do it, focus on making it positive, present tense, and clear. The more specific you are, the more accurate your results.

Take a little bit of the oil, dab it on the corners and center of your paper, and fold it in half toward you. Place it in the center of your square of cloth.

On top of the paper, sprinkle a bit of each of your herbs. As you do, focus on the intention behind each herb and how it relates to your desires. Hold the herb for a moment, filling it with your intention, and then add it to the cloth.

 

• Calendula for success
• Cinnamon for passion, fire, and energy
• Dragon’s Blood for power and manifesting

 

Add a little oil to your hands and rub them together and then hold your citrine stone in your hands and visualize your desires as having manifested. In your mind’s eye, see the stone glowing with its energy surrounding you, attracting your desires to you. When you’re ready, place it on top of the herbs and paper.

Gather up the corners of your cloth and use the ribbon to tie it closed. Add a few drops of oil to the outside of your charm to bless and charge it.

Lastly, take your oil and dress each of your candles with it. Place the candles in a triangle, as shown below, placing your charm in the center.

 

 

Light your candles in the following order:

Light the White Candle and say: I clear the path ahead of me for success and blessings to abound.

Light the Red Candle and say: I call in the energy, power, passion, and desire to follow through and make my desires a reality.

Light the Gold Candle and say: I manifest (insert desire here) successfully with ease and invite this success to ripple out throughout my whole life.

 

Allow the candles to burn down completely. Carry your charm with you, hang it in a window, or keep it in a special, sacred spot, like your altar. Any time you need to reconnect with your intentions or add a little energy to your desires, hold it.  Give it a squeeze and inhale the scent of the bag while visualizing the next steps toward your goal manifesting successfully.

Just remember, you MUST act in the real world! Your spell is only part of the process. You need to make sure you’re taking the necessary mundane steps to see your desires come to pass.
