Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and even though love is always on our minds, it’s especially so right now. When you do work like I do, requests for love spells and rituals come every day of the year. Like I shared in my post last week about my podcast episode on love magick, I have some mixed feelings about love spells. While I’d love for you to go check that post out and listen to my podcast, I shared (and let me know what you thought of it, and if you’d like to hear more of them), I’ll break it down in a few bullet points.

Loves spells targeting a specific person are risky and, honestly, desperate.
When you use magick to make a specific person fall in love with you, you’re creating a situation where you’ll most likely need to keep up your energetic and magickal work as an ongoing process to keep them there. Not always, but a lot of the time, it takes continued magick to maintain those results. There is also an aspect of this kind of love magick that most people don’t even think of. It’s desperate. There are plenty of people out there and your person is one of them. You don’t need to be so desperate for love that you FORCE someone to love you.
Whether you’re working a love spell to get back your ex or you’re using a love spell to finally snag a crush, you’re basically saying, “Hey, I know this person doesn’t want to be with me, but I want THEM, so I don’t care what.” So rather than finding someone that WANTS YOU, you’re taking a bit of a desperate route of using magick to force someone to love you. And then, you always have to wonder, do they really love you or is it just because you used magick on them.
The best love spell you can ever do for any situation is one you cast on yourself.
Rather than trying to make a specific person feel the way you want them to about you, casting a love spell on yourself to attract the right person to you will bring far better results. When you do magick to make someone fall in love with you, you run the risk of them not being who you expect because of the effects of your magick on them. But when you’re working magick to make yourself more attractive, exciting, and desirable to the right person for you, you’re doing something very different. You’re only adding more sparkle to your aura and making your energy more magnetic to get the attention of someone that really would want to be with you.
Love Drawing Herb Bottle Spell
Magickal Timing: Planetary Hour of Venus, a Friday, or Valentine’s Day
Items:
- A jar or bottle, clean, in the size you wish to use
- Dried Rose Petals (for romance)
- Lavender (for a calm relationship)
- Cinnamon (for sexual attraction)
- Red Pepper (for lust)
- Lemon Peel (for joy and happiness)
- A pink candle
- Rose, Cinnamon, or Love oil blend
Purpose:
This spell jar is designed to help surround you in some love energy with the intention that it radiates out and attract someone that resonates with this vibe you’re projecting. This is how we want to really attract love. We want someone who’s vibe resonates with ours.
The amount of each herb you’ll need use will depend on the size of your bottle. You want to be able to fill the bottle with herbs to the top, so keep this in mind as you gather your supplies.
Directions:
Dress your candle with oil, start at each end, and going to the center of the candle. Fill it with energies and intentions for love, visualizing what you want most. Place it in a holder and put it in the center of your altar and sprinkle a little pinch of each herb around the base, then light the candle.
Layer your herbs one at a time into your bottle. Before adding each herb to the jar, hold it for a moment. Focus your intention on what you want from a partner. When you pick up the cinnamon, for instance, visualize the way you will show each other love and affection. When you pick up the red pepper, imagine your sexual chemistry being really “spicy,” and so on. But the trick is to NOT visualize a specific person.
Do this for each herb, setting your intention, and filling the bottle with your desires. Once you have everything inside, blow a little life into the jar with your breath, and then speak out loud your desire. These are YOUR words of power! So speak from the heart about what you want most. Be honest, use your words, well, and speak them over the open bottle.
When you’re done, cork it. Use your candle to drip wax over the cork to seal it. Leave it on your altar and allow the candle to burn down. You can hold the bottle and visualize your goal as if it is manifest to help activate the energy for your work. You can carry it with you when you go out, especially when you know you’re going to be somewhere that you could end up meeting new people.
