Welcome to the start of a new weekly post series called Magick Monday! Each Monday we’ll start the week off with a little magickal help. I’ll share with you a spell, magickal tip or recipe to add a little magick to your week. And as I always do, I will do my best to keep these things practical and truly usable.
This week we’re talking about courage and working to face your fears.
We all have times when we know we need to dip into our courage and face a fear but we don’t actually take action. So often we feel fear around something {that’s your Ego talking} but we feel that we should do something {that’s your Higher Self talking}. Being able to take these two things and bring them together to take care of yourself is key.
When you’re facing a challenge that is being punctuated by fear but you know you need to do something to face your fears, try this spell to help.
Candle Magick for Courage
Dress a yellow or gold candle with frankincense oil and add a red rose to your altar.
Dress yourself in yellow or gold, or anything that gives you a particular feeling of strength. Wear something that feels empowering and that might give you a vibe of wearing armor so you could take on the world.
Burn some spicy scented incense, like cinnamon or my personal favorite Amber Flame by Escentials Essences. Walk around your space with the incense to create an aura of fire, courage, and energy.
Sit at your altar and light your candle. As you watch the flame grow and burn, take this flame into your heart. Close your eyes and see it growing and glowing inside your heart, filling your body with fire and courage.
Repeat this invocation three times, feeling it resonate from your heart, from the flame. See yourself growing braver, putting on a warriors dress, and preparing to easily deal with your battles. Each time you say it feel your light and courage grow.
Growing, glowing, shining light
Courage within now ignites.
Fears and worries that I now face
I move easily through with bravery and grace.
All my power and strength returns
As this candle flames does burn.
By the power of all, three times three,
As I will it, so mote it be!
Sit with your candle for a little while, feeling this strength within you grow. Visualize your space filled with a golden light that feeds your aura with courage and power. You may want to write in your journal or Book of Shadows about anything that may have coming to you or message you may have received. This would also be a great time to bring out our tarot or oracle cards to do a little reading about what to do next for facing your situation.
Allow the candle to burn itself out and leave the rose as an offering both the Universal Divine and your own Divine Self.
Remember: When you truly need to work a spell, magickal timing is secondary. However, this spell is perfect for the next few days since we have a full moon tomorrow, May 29th, in the sign of Sagittarius.
