When I was little, probably like 5 or 6, I discovered something really wild that’s stuck with me my whole life. If you put something to music, I can learn it. Anything. Music clicks in my brain for some reason. I remember song lyrics to songs that I haven’t heard in years with Sheldon Cooper like recall.
When I was a little older, let me tell you, School House Rock was a godsend!
For some reason when I’m in the shower I get crazy ideas and today the song “Hey Brother” by Avicii popped into my head and I thought “Huh…that could be like the theme song for Archangel Sandalphon.” Then KABLAM! Idea!
How about a playlist of rock and pop songs, one for each of the archangels, referencing either their area of governance or the things they can help us with as a way to better remember who they are and what they do.

I created the playlist here, but before you go listening to it, you might want to know what songs are referencing which angel and why, right? Of course!
I’ve included 17 songs – 15 songs for 15 archangels and then 2 songs for two other very important spiritual beings we can’t forget here.
Ariel – Roar by Katy Perry
Ariel is the angel of courage, nature and and animals, what other song could possibly fit!? Her name means “Lioness of God” and she helps us to step into our own power and find that inner roar we need to push us forward.This is one of those songs that really connects you Ariel’s strong lioness courage when you need it.
Azrael – Over the Rainbow by IZ {Israel Kamakawiwo’ole}
Azrael’s name means “He Who Helps God” and the way he helps God is very special. Azrael is also sometimes called the Angel of Death because his job is to help people transition from the world of the living to the world of spirit. He also brings comfort to the grieving. So over the rainbow we go, crossing the Rainbow Bridge.
Chamuel – Something’s Missing by John Mayer
Chamuel’s name means “He Who See’s God” and he helps us when we feel something is missing in our lives. Often the things that’s missing is our connection to love and the Divine. When we’re feeling alone in our relationships or feeling stuck and confused in love and life Chamuel can help us to see the Divine in all those around us so we find what we need.
Gabriel – The Messenger by Linkin Park
Gabriel is best known from the Bible as the one who blows the horn to signal the arrival of Judgement Day. His name means “Strength of God” and he’s the messenger of God’s love and strength. I was reminded of him in this song not only for the title but the chorus “When life leaves us blind, Love keeps us kind, It keeps us kind“…love is true strength.
Haniel – Three Little Birds by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Haniel is the angel of grace, her name meaning “Grace of God”. She helps with physical, mental and emotional challenges unique to women but she also reminds us to always remain peaceful and graceful in times of trouble. This is one of my favorite songs because “every little thing is gonna be alright“.
Jeremiel – Get Together by The Youngbloods
Jeremiel’s name means “Mercy of God” and he helps us to devote ourselves to being of service to others and to find ways to help others with spiritual, selfless acts whenever possible. By lifting up others we lift up ourselves. This is the anthem for that very thing.
Jophiel – She’s a Beauty by The Tubes
Jophiel is the angel of beauty with her name meaning “Beauty of God”. She reminds us of our own beauty as well as the beauty in the world around us and in others. Now, this song, I”m not totally sure but I’ve always thought is about a stripper. Jophiel isn’t a stripper but she sure can help you learn how to work that natural beauty you have so you knock people out with your stunning light!
Metatron – The Wizard by Black Sabbath
Metatron, who’s name means “Presence of God”, is sort of the Dumbledore of the archangels. He governs all things esoteric and is often that angel that magic workers connect with the easiest at first. Metatron can help you learn to do psychic work, do energy healing and even do work that seems to make time bend to your will…he’s a wizard for sure!
Michael – Protection by Massive Attack
Michael is the angel of protection who’s name means “He Who is Like God”. This is one of those song picks that needs little explanation. Need help finding shelter and getting protection? Michael is that one to call.
Raguel – Friend of the Devil by The Grateful Dead
So this might seem like an odd pick, but hang with me. Raguel’s name means “Friend of God” and he helps to heal arguments and relationship rifts. He also helps us when we’re feeling overwhelmed by giving us support and direction to get out of our own way. So if you listen to the lyrics you’ll see where Raguel can be found in here.
Raphael – Only Love Is Real by MC Yogi with Marti Nikko
Raphael is the angel of healing who’s name means “He Who Heals”. This song was another no brainer to me. Only love is real and love heals all.
Raziel – Little Secrets by Passion Pit
Raziel is the angel of secrets with his name meaning “Secrets of God”. He is the closest angel to God and hears his biggest secrets but he keeps them safe, sharing the bits we need when we need them. He helps us understand out dreams, make sense of spiritual wisdom and answer our questions in meditation. But if you want to keep a secret Raziel will help you out…just ask!
Sandalphon – Hey Brother by Avicii
Sandalphon’s name means “Brother” and he is the divine brother to Metatron. He is also a patron of music. I loved this song for him because in my personal experience Sandalphon, being an ascended prophet mythologically and having been a brother, he gets that brother or sister bond we have with our siblings of blood and of choice. He can help with those relationships when asked.
Uriel – Blinded By The Light by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band
Uriel’s name means “God is Light”. He beings healing light, helps guide our way and carries us with his light away from our problems and gets us back on the road to something better. When we feel stuck and confused he’s a great helper to call on, especially if we’re stuck with anything having to do with learning, school, study or dealing with important facts.
Zadkiel – 7 Years by Sully Erna
Zadkiel’s name means “Righteousness of God” and he helps with memory and forgiveness. When we need to learn to accept something and forgive in the process he’s a wonderful angel to work with. I also find that his ability to help us remember is helpful here…sometimes when we need to forgive someone when a relationship falls apart remembering why we loved them in the first place is so important.
Lucifer – Misguided Angel by Cowboy Junkies
Lucifer, poor poor Lucifer. He gets such a bad rap! Lucifer’s name means “Light Bearer”. In Biblical tales Lucifer and his angels rebelled against God and were kicked out if Heaven. Years ago I read a great explanation of why this happened to also put to rest Lucifer’s reputation as evil. Lucifer, being a very close partner to God and having intimate knowledge of God’s plan to incarnate as a man so that he could redeem humanity after the fall. This angered Lucifer and his angels because that meant having to worship God incarnate…something that they weren’t happy about because they saw themselves as superior to man and they were proud of this. So they rebelled out of arrogance. Hence a very misguided angel.
