This month’s full moon is going to be coming up on Thursday the 25th in the sign of Scorpio. There will also be a lunar eclipse with this moon however it wont be visible in North America since the timing of the eclipse will fall at a time when the moon will still be below the horizon. If you like working with eclipse energy {a time for working with powerful sun and moon clearing energy} remember that just because you can’t see it happen doesn’t mean you can’t work with the energy.
The Pink Moon is also known by a few other names including the Seed Moon, Sprouting Grass Moon, and Egg Moon. It gets the name Pink Moon because of the pink moss and pink flowers called wild ground phlox which are often seen in wide coverage during the spring.
This is a time for planting final seeds and handling all the final groundwork for anything that we started planning at the start of spring. When the full moon in May comes along we’re going to be closing in on the start of summer so we want to make sure our plans are all set now to take advantage of that energy as much as possible.
Some general correspondences for the Pink Moon are:
Element: Air
Colors: bright pink, yellow, pale blue
Stones: angelite, rose quartz, selenite
Herbs: dandelion, milkweed, fern
{It’s interesting that in this week’s Messages From Spirit reading dandelions were pr0minent in a card that relates to the middle of week when this full moon is happening!}
There is something else to consider though and that’s the sign the full moon is happening in. This week it’s the sign of Scorpio, which can be a little tricky for some people. It is a bit of a darker energy that connects us to things like ancient, secret wisdom and secrets in our daily life, psychic development, and connections to the Underworld.
When the full moon is in Scorpio we find certain kinds of spiritual work is particularly favored:
- Shamanic journeys
- Meditation
- Connecting to the deeper mysteries of the spirit
- Clearing away anything unwanted in our lives that holds us back
- Losing “dead weight”
- Self-confidence
- Psychic work and development
- Secrets
- Power
For this month’s full moon I wanted to share a little crystal magic that can be helpful. It involves creating simple gemstone elixirs, something I’ve talked about in the past with all my crystal love. It’s a wonderful way to infuse water with crystal vibrations that can help you with various things, but when done with the moon you also infuse the moon’s vibration into the water as well. Double threat to anything that gets in your way! POW!!
What you can use gemstone elixirs for:
- Enhance drinking water with crystal energy
- Drop under the tongue like flower essences
- Anoint the body, chakras, and pulse points
- Spray the physical + energy body or a room
- Use when cooking to infuse food + drink with crystal energy
- Add to bath water for ritual, healing baths
- Infuse body lotions, bath washes, and shampoo
Making Your Gemstone Elixirs
Here’s what you need:
- Your chosen crystals
- Purified water
- 80-100 proof vodka or brandy
- Sterilized Mason jar with lid {1 pint size}
- Rubber band
- Plastic wrap
1. Choose Your Stones
I like to use either a single stone or three stones together. Below you’ll find stone combinations for three of the energy intentions of this Full Pink Moon in Scorpio. Pick one that resonates with you, keeping in mind three things:
- Your stone should have a Mohs Hardness of 5 or more so it doesn’t breakdown in the water
- Use tumbled stones, not raw pieces in order to prevent anything breaking off or contaminating the water
- Make sure your stones aren’t toxic! Check this list first.
Turn or cleanse your stones. I’ve talked before about tuning rather than other forms of cleansing, but to be brief using vibrational clearing rather than things like sunlight, sage, or water helps to get the crystals back to their purest form or vibration. The stones work with us by entraining our personal vibration, and in this case the vibration of the water, to a their emanating vibration. So if we want to help ourselves resonate with an energy of love, we use a stone that vibrates in a way that makes us feel love, like rose quartz. We want that rose quartz to be vibrating at its highest rate possible and this happens when we retune them. You can do this by simply ringing a bell, singing bowl, or tuning fork next to or over your stones {you can do this with many stones and different kinds of stones at the same time}. Allow about 30 seconds to a minute of this vibration to reset your crystal’s dominant oscillatory rate.
2. Fill Your Jar
Place your stones in the bottom of the jar and fill with 1 cup of purified water. Purified water is important because you want to do all you can to cut down on possible bacteria in the jar.
3. Cover With Clear Plastic Wrap
You’ll be placing the jar outside and you want to protect the water from anything that could get in and contaminate it but you also want to make sure the moonlight can illuminate the jar as much as possible so clear plastic wrap is best. Secure with a rubber band around the top of the jar or use the ring from the Mason jar lid.
4. Place Outside
Once the sun has set below the horizon find a place outdoors to put your jar overnight. It needs to be somewhere safe where it wont be tipped over or disturbed as well as somewhere that will get a little direct moonlight {even if it’s only for a few minutes, that’s fine}.
5. Remove Before Sunrise
Set your alarm! Get outside and bring your bottle in before the sun comes up. Usually about 30 minutes before the scheduled sunrise is good. {Don’t know what time that will be? Click here and I’ll Google that for you!}
6. Remove Stones, Preserve, Store
The best way to do this is to use a clean spoon to fish out the stone. Putting your hands in the jar could lead to bacteria getting in the water. Your stones can be retuned and used again for other things later or you can reserve these just to be your gem elixir stones, it’s up to you.
Preserving the elixir is super important. Again, you want to cut down on possible bacteria growth. That’s what the alcohol is for. Some people have also suggested that it helps to perserve the vibration of the water, but I’m not entirely sure about that. What I do know is water has a high chance of growing bacteria over time as it sits and this helps prevent that.
If you don’t wish to use alcohol you can use a high quality, organic apple cider vinegar instead. With the alcohol the quality isn’t as important so feel free to buy the cheap stuff.
Without the alcohol your elixir will be good for up to 1 week if properly stored {i.e. a cool, dark place}. With the alcohol you can use it for up to 4 months.
The amount of preserver to use varies by who you ask, but the safest bet is a 1:1 ratio. So once you have your stones out of the bottle add your alcohol or vinegar in the same ratio as the water you added {if you used 1 cup of water, add 1 cup of vodka}.
Master Bottle and Dosage Bottles
This bottle is now your Master Bottle/Mother Bottle/Mother Batch. You’ll use this to create dosage bottles that you can carry with you or to help ration out your essences.
To make your dosage bottle please inside a 30-ml sized amber dropper bottle {like these}.
Add:
1 tsp vodka, brandy, or cider vinegar
4 drops from your Master Bottle
fill with distilled water
This bottle should also be stored in a cool dark place and should be used within 3 weeks.
It’s important to keep in mind that based on the Principes of Homeopathy, extreme dilution of a natural medicine actually increases it’s effective where concentration actually can cause an increase in the symptoms we’re trying to treat. So you only need a few drops at a time. The ideal dosage for your gemstone elixirs are 2-4 drops 4-6 times a day under the tongue or you can also add 2-3 drops to 8oz of water and drink.
Other Ways To Enhance Your Elixirs
Two other simple ways to enhance your elixirs are to charge the Master Bottle in the center of a crystal grid constructed to resonate with the intention of your elixir. You can also tape labels with words, images, and colors to your Master Bottle that reflect energies you’d like to program your water with.

thanks for sharing this Jess… my daily readings adviced that I follow the right guidance… I feel this is exactly what I needed.
Selene De la Rosa says
Quick question, would it be more beneficial to do this tonight or tomorrow night? According to my moon application the full moon happens at 2:57pm thursday.
I'm trying to figure out if I should do this tonight or tomorrow night. 🙂
I'd appreciate any guidance.
Jess Carlson says
You could do it tonight if you wanted to since you'd still have the growing energy which is better than the waning energy for these kinds of things.

Hi Jess,
I have read that some of the crystals are toxic when immersed in water and should not be ingested as in a drop under the tongue. Does the addition of vodka help with that? Can toxic elixirs be sprayed on a person or should they only be sprayed in the environment? Just wondering. Thanks for all the information you put out there.
Kathleen
Jess Carlson says
The crystals that I've chosen here are specifically chosen because they are non-toxic stones. Stones with toxins should not be immersed in water and then the water sprayed around the body, placed on the body, or inhaled. Your skin absorbs the toxins just as much as if you were to put them in something and drink/ingest them. If you do a Google search for "toxic crystals" you'll find a number of websites with lists of stones that contain toxins. And it's important to know too that the level of toxicity varies in some stones based on the form they are in. For example raw malachite is so toxic is should never come in contact with bare skin. Tumbled malachite is safe to use but it should never be used in an elixir like this because it contains copper.
Kathleen R. Carter says
Thought so, thanks Jess!
Moon Crystals says
Could the same principal be used as a spray?
Jess Carlson says
You mean turning an elixir into a spray? Yes…you can make an elixir and then simply put it in a spray bottle and use it that way.
