Ready for a super quick spell for gratitude just in time for Thanksgiving? And this one is kid friendly so you can do this with your little witchlings on Thanksgiving. It might help them stay occupied for a bit plus it teaches them the power of being truly grateful.
The idea behind this is to count your blessings. When you counting your blessings and acknowledging them in a tangible way you can use them to help manifest more blessings, abundance, and gratitude.
Shake Up Your Gratitude
You’ll Need:
- Small jar {like a baby food jar}
- Dry corn kernels {like unpopped popcorn}
- Image/Magical Symbol for jar top
- Glue or Tape
Find or create an image or magical seal/symbol that will fit on the top or side of your container that represents blessings, abundance, and/or gratitude for you. Add it to the top of the jar or to one side of your container.
Take a handful of corn from its bag and and set it on the table in front of you. One by one pick up a piece and think of something that you are grateful for and declare it while holding the corn, then add it to the jar. For instance:
I’m grateful for my new job.
I’m grateful for my home.
I’m grateful for my friend Sue.
Take your time and think of as many things as you can. Nothing is too small to be grateful for! But don’t just say you’re grateful, really feel your gratitude. Only add the corn to the jar when you have felt true gratitude for what you have declared.
Once you have honored all your gratitude and added your corn to the jar, blow into the jar to add a little of your essence to the jar and cap it closed tightly.
Pick up your jar and hold it in your hands for a minute. Think about all that you have placed inside. Reflect on all that you have to be grateful for. Feel the power of that between your hands. Then begin to gently shake the jar, listening to the rattling sound of the corn kernels singing your song of gratitude.
As you start to shake the jar focus on the idea of the vibration you’re creating. As you create this vibration know that it will ripple out into the Universe and that what you are sending out is what you are going to get back.
You may also want to add a chant to this. You can come up with your own affirmation or you can use something like this:
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
The Universe has my back.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
The Universe fills my cup.
When you’re all done you can keep your jar on your altar or in another sacred space. Any time you need to “shake up” a little gratitude in your life or be reminded of all your blessings, shake the jar and repeat your chant.
From time to time you might want to add more blessings of gratitude to your jar. When you do that, be sure to blow into the jar to add your energy and essence to it before you seal it closed.
Over time you should intentionally have your jar become too full so that you have to start using a larger jar. When that happens simply add everything from this jar into your new larger jar. This will show you over time just how much you have to be grateful for in your life.
