Today we have a Taurus full moon with the sun opposing it in Scorpio, which can feel really uncomfortable or really exciting. With Taurus being an earth sign and Scorpio a water sign, we find ourselves in a position where we’re seeking ways to be more fluid with the things that are well formed and rooted in our lives. For some people that’s like a giant permission slip and others like a black hole of doom. (OK, that’s a bit dramatic, but some people really hate being pushed into change no matter how good it is for them.)
Taurus is a sign that brings grounding and a desire for structure and comfort while Scorpio beings change and transformation for growth. Both have a few downsides, of course. Ironically they are a bit similar, they both have to do with attachment and being stuck in our ways. With Taurus it has to do with being stuck in your comfort zone, allowing fear to have you holding tightly to old ways of being and thinking. For Scorpio its almost the opposite, being kind of addicted to growth and change and always looking for the next big thing while not taking time to really be in the present with where you are.
Both Taurus and Scorpio are helpful in finding resources to make a change, but they are very different types of resources. Taurus looks for tangible things in the material world while Scorpio seems out spiritual and energetic resources to help with growth and transformation. But no matter how you look at it, this full moon is one that is crying out for creating change!
With these two signs in mind, I created this tarot spread (which you can also use with oracle cards, runes, crystals, Pog caps…whatever you like) to help you find what desire is most tugging at you right now and how to work for change by being present but fluid and what resources can be most helpful right now.
1. What desire is seeking illumination?
With the full moon’s light, there is a particular dream, desire, or goal that is going to stand out and seem most pressings. This could also be the one that could the be the easiest for you to work on right now. This card will give insight into what that is.
2. What beliefs or patterns are keeping you in your comfort zone and holding back change?
When we hold tight to what is comfortable and familiar we stop progress and growth. We hold on to these things, even things that are negative or harmful, simply because the results and outcomes they give us are familiar. We know what to expect so there’s no fear of failure…but that also means nothing new comes along and nothing changes. This will help you understand where you may be hanging on and no making room for growth.
3. What material resources can be helpful?
This card will give you some ideas as to what material or tangible resources could be helpful in getting you out of that comfort zones and into the pathway of growth. This can be people, places, things or actions that can directly lead to advancing your path to your desires.
4. What energetic resources can be helpful?
This card will help you get an idea of energetic, spiritual or magickal resources that could help you let go and open up to change. You might find clear signs of types of magick or healing that you could do while others might require a little more reflection. You could also find signs of specific spirit guides, ancestors or angels here that could be helpful allies.
5. How can you stay grounded?
Even though you are looking to create change, there is still a need to stay in the present and down to earth. This is often where change can cause us to get a bit carried away…we get too focused on what could be or too challenged by what we may have done “wrong” to get us where we are. This card can help you better understand how you can stay in the here and now.
6. How can you be more fluid?
The biggest challenge toward growth is being willing to go with the flow, especially when you have to get out of old habits and patterns. This card will help you get a sense of how you can be more open to releasing control or fear so you can flow with change as it comes.
7. What potential is waiting for you?
This final card will give you an idea of what could be possible if you follow the advice of the cards before it and you follow your intuition. This is one of the biggest calls of Scorpio and one of the biggest challenges to Taurus when it comes to change. But if you follow the reading’s advice and listen to your gut, this could be a sign of what opportunities wait for you.
A few tips…
Look at your natal chart and see what Houses Scorpio and Taurus fall for you. These can help you understand a bit of what you may be naturally challenged within these areas. For Taurus, this can be the area where you find comfort is essential for you while where Scorpio falls could be an area where you find change and transformation happens often or calls you most.
If you want to get an idea specifically of witchcraft and magick you can use for this situation for either this full moon or during the waning moon, you can combine Cards 3 and 4 for a larger magickal direction.
If you find Card 3 is challenging use Card 5 to support it (and vice versa).
If you find Card 4 is challenging use Card 6 to support it (and vice versa).
